Will there ever be any forestry shows again??

Forestry shows

Of course there will be forestry shows again! But when, and how? The pandemic has really messed life up for many around the World. For those who work within the trade show business, life must be difficult right now as their business is about bringing people together to meet. Something that in most countries is illegal for the moment.

When will we see forestry shows again?

I used to work for the Elmia Wood show, and I know how much work it takes to get it all together. Now, no one seems to know when the show will take place again. It was planned for May this year but was postponed until 2 – 4 June 2022 which was informed about already in September 2020. Let´s hope they don´t have to postpone again.

The good thing for Elmia is that they can use the same fair ground as before which means less planning for each event. They have done that since 2001. Many exhibitors have built more or less permanent stands where they can just move in before each fair. But there is still a lot of planning to do before the gates can open.

I really miss the forestry shows. For us working in the forest, a show is one of few opportunities to meet colleagues and other forest and machine nerds. For me the Elmia show is a favorite in that sense that it take place more or less in my back yard (not because I used to work there), meaning that all forestry friends around the globe “comes to me”.

Of course there are other great forestry shows. APF in England, KWF and Interforst in Germany, Euroforest and Forexpo in France are among those I used to visit on a regular basis and hope I will do again.

2022 – the year of forestry shows?

As it looks right now, 2022 will be a busy year for us who loves forestry shows. It seems that most shows that were planned for 2020 and 2021 will take place in 2022 + the ones that were already planned for 2022. We will see if they all will make it …

In the meantime, you can have a look at some photos I took the other day on the fair grounds of the Elmia show – totally empty, not a soul in sight. But some stands are waiting for the next show.
